Clay-Pot Lunch at Rathna Ella

The family grows the rice. The jackfruit is off their tree. The lake fish came in that morning. Everything is cooked in clay over a wood fire and served on a banana leaf on the verandah, with the sound of the falls behind the house.

Then there is kithul treacle and curd, and a hammock, and an argument about whether to walk to the waterfall or sleep.
