Lake Fish Market

A short walk from the bund, the fishermen sell direct. There is no building, just the catch on leaves, a set of brass scales, and a lot of quick talk in Sinhala.

Our guide translates, and the kitchen buys what it needs for the day while you watch. Go with an empty stomach; the woman at the far end makes the best plain tea in the district.
